New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: “Regarding the 101st Anniversary of Independence From British Occupation”

Today the 28th of Assad marks a proud historical day for our people and homeland as 101 years earlier on this exact date, the valiant and Mujahid people of Afghanistan with the blessing of Divine Help from Allah won their independence from British occupation and forced the greatest colonial power of the 19th and 20th century to officially recognize the sovereignty of this land and its people.

As the Islamic Emirate congratulates its people on gaining independence from British colonization, it also considers today’s Jihadi struggle on the verge success a proud historical moment for the Afghan Mujahid nation.

Just as our forefathers gave a befitting response to every scheme of the invading enemy at appropriate time, we too shall continue our comprehensive struggle with all our might towards regaining our sovereignty and establishing an Islamic government in our homeland and shall not allow anyone to stand in the way of this great and pure aspiration, Allah willing.

As today we are once again on the threshold of gaining independence, we call upon all internal sides to give preference to the aspirations and real demands of this nation, support the call of freedom and sovereignty and rescue this suffering nation from further hardships.

We hope that the world and specifically the regional countries will extend support the people of Afghanistan in attaining their freedom and legitimate rights because we believe that such will benefit everyone economically and security wise, Allah willing.

Eye On Jihadis in Libya Weekly Update: July 23

IS in Action

On 17 July, Hashem Abedi, the brother of the suicide bomber Salman Abedi who blew himself up at a concert the British city of Manchester in May 2017, was extradited from Libya to the UK. A spokesperson for the Special Deterrence Force (Rada), who had detained Hashem in Tripoli, confirmed his extradition. Hashem is wanted on charges of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to cause an explosion. Abedi is likely to appear before the Westminster Magistrates Court after questioning.

On 11 July, IS released its al-Naba newsletter no 190, which featured a eulogy for Abu Assem al Sudani (aka Mohamed Bin Ahmed al-Falata). The Sudanese national was allegedly one of the ISIS Libya’s media officers and was killed fighting against LNA force in southern Libya. He is thought to have documented the groups June 2018 attack on the Qanan Police Station, close to Ajdabiya.

On 9 July, the Shahat CID arrested a suspected IS member, Ayoub Salah Abdul Aziz al-Alsoinai. The CID claims al-Alsoinai confessed to murdering several military and police officers.

New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: "Regarding the 98th Anniversary of Independence from the British"

28th of Zmarai is marked as a day of joy and a date of triumph and honor for the valiant Afghan nation. On this day, the Afghans under the leadership of scholars and Mujahid mystics paired with immeasurable and selfless sacrifices beat back three invasions of the era’s English Idol and handed a shameful defeat to the British Imperialists. And in the end the valiant Afghans forced the British Empire to accept and internationally recognize their sovereignty on the 28th of Zmarai of the year 1297 Hijri Solar.
We congratulate our Mujahid nation on the arrival of this momentous day and show our appreciation for the heroics and sacrifices of our valiant predecessors.
But unfortunately, the 98th Anniversary of Independence from English Imperialists has arrived upon us at a time as our beloved homeland is in the claws of occupation and invasion of American transgressors including Britain. Thousands of their soldiers are leading a war against the Afghan nation and have usurped our national sovereignty and political freedom for the past 16 years.
We wish to remind America and colonizers of this age that you should have taken heed from the three invasions of your forefathers who used their entire arsenal of power, strategies and tactics and tried their utmost to pacify this valiant nation and impose their Empire upon their homeland but the result was only regret and shame as they were disgracefully forced out of Afghanistan and officially recognized it as a sovereign state.
That you utilized a hundred and fifty thousand soldiers of your own and four hundred thousand hireling troops alongside your war machine while squandering 2 trillion dollars in a failed attempt to secure Kabul let alone Afghanistan and rule it to your desire, then understand that you have truly lost any chance of success. The best recommendation and path forward for you is to forgo Afghanistan and let the Afghans live in peace and prosperity similar to the other nations of the world.
To end – as we celebrate the glories of 28th Zmarai and consider it a historic day of deliverance – we wish infamy, disgrace and unmasking upon the perpetrators of occupation and their puppets and we firmly believe in Divine assistance of the moments being very close where our beloved homeland shall once again hear the glad tidings of freedom and emancipation from the American Idol and shall annually celebrate that day similar to the 28th of Zmarai, Allah willing.

Check out my new ‘Policy Watch’ for the Washington Institute: "Manchester Attack Highlights Foreign Fighters in Libya"

After Libyan British jihadi Salman Abedi killed twenty-two people in Manchester earlier this week, a friend of his noted that he had just returned from a three-week trip to Libya only days before the bombing. Although British investigators have yet to uncover or disclose publicly that the twenty-two-year-old suspect joined the Islamic State or received training while in Libya, his brother reportedly admitted that they were with IS following his arrest earlier today in Tripoli. In addition, IS has claimed responsibility for the bombing, and the French government has since revealed that Abedi traveled to Syria as well, raising concerns that the attack was the group’s first directed operation from Libya into Europe. If so, it reiterates the dangers of foreign fighter training abroad. It also puts the spotlight on the flow of foreign fighters to Libya, which many have understandably ignored due to the even larger flows seen in Iraq and Syria.
