In this regard we urge world countries to end existing sanctions and let banks operates normally so that charity groups, organizations and the government can pay salaries to their staff with their own reserves and international financial assistance.

Participants of the meeting agreed that an instable Afghanistan is not in the interest of anyone however they do have some concerns that must be addressed by you that will lead to positive effects on relations. New release from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: “Statement of the Foreign Ministry”

Two-day dialogue between delegations of  the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United States of America went well. Political issues were discussed in detail during the meeting and full implementation of the Doha agreement was considered by the Islamic Emirate as the best way for resolving problems, and also that humanitarian assistance should not be linked with political issues.

US representatives stated that they will give humanitarian assistance to Afghans and will provide facilities for other humanitarian organisations to deliver aid.

IEA welcomed this assistance and remarked that it will cooperate with charitable groups in delivering humanitarian assistance to those deserving transparently, and will facilitate principled movement of foreign nationals.

Detailed discussions were held during the meeting about all relevant issues. And efforts should be exerted to restore diplomatic relations to a better state.

The meeting in which talks were candid was considered a good opportunity of understanding and it was agreed that such meetings will continue to be held in the future if required.

New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: “About the Airspace of Afghanistan”

Countries, under international laws are the sole owners of their state territorial and air sovereignty. Therefore, Islamic Emirate, as the sole legal entity of Afghanistan, is the custodian of Afghanistan’s land and airspace. We recently saw Unites states violating all international rights, law and United States’ commitments to the Islamic Emirate in Doha, Qatar, as Afghanistan’s sacred airspace is being invaded by US drones. These violations must be rectified and prevented.

We call on all countries, especially United States, to treat Afghanistan in light of international rights, laws  and commitments and considering mutual respect and commitments, in order to prevent any negative consequences.

Check out my new ‘Policy Watch’ for the Washington Institute: “When Tunisians Fired the Start Gun for 9/11”

Twenty years ago today, Tunisians helped carry out the assassination of Afghan Northern Alliance leader Ahmad Shah Massoud two days before the 9/11 attacks. In the late 1990s, Massoud had been a key U.S. ally against the Taliban’s advances, and although his fortunes had changed significantly by 2001, Washington would no doubt have relied on him heavily during the post-9/11 invasion were he still alive. Flash forward to this week, and the Taliban has just declared victory over resistance forces led by Massoud’s son Ahmad in the Panjshir Valley—a sobering bookend to a battle the group has been waging against the Northern Alliance for two decades.

Yet the heavy Tunisian involvement and other circumstances of the 2001 assassination merit a closer look, not only for their impact on subsequent developments in the global jihadist movement, but also because of the implications they hold now that Afghanistan is once again under Taliban control. Massoud’s death served multiple purposes, some of which were not entirely evident until after the fact: his killing was a gift that the Tunisian Combat Group (TCG) and al-Qaeda gave the Taliban for fighting their local enemy, as well as a public signal to launch the 9/11 attacks and an important part of al-Qaeda’s preparations for the eventual coalition invasion of Afghanistan. This is the story of the assassination, who was behind it, and why it still matters for individuals attempting to understand how jihadist networks change over time—and what types of operatives may now return to Afghanistan.

New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: “The Latest U.S. Position Regarding the Blacklist Is a Violation of the Doha Agreement”

Pentagon officials have remarked that some cabinet members of the Islamic Emirate or family members of late Haqqani Sahib – may Allah be pleased with him – are on the US blacklists and still targets.

The Islamic Emirate considers this position a clear violation of the Doha Agreement which is neither in the interest of the United States nor Afghanistan.

The family of honorable Haqqani Sahib is part of Islamic Emirate and does not have a separate name or organizational setup. Similarly, in Doha Agreement all officials of the Islamic Emirate without any exception were part of interaction with the US and should have been removed from the UN and US blacklists, a demand which still remains valid.

That America and other countries are making such provocative statements and trying to meddle the internal affairs of Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate condemns it in the strongest terms.

Such remarks by US officials are a repetition of past failed experiments and such positions detrimental for America.

We urge that these incorrect policies be immediately reversed through diplomatic interactions.
