New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Dhabīḥ Allah Mujāhid: “On Relations Between Afghanistan and Pakistan”

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wants good relations with all its neighboring countries, including Pakistan, in the spirit of good neighborliness and believes in all the ways that can bring us to this goal.

Recently, Pakistani officials have been making incorrect statements about Afghanistan, which we call regrettable.

The Islamic Emirate is trying its best that the territory of Afghanistan is not used against Pakistan or any other country.

We are committed to this goal, but the Pakistani side is also responsible to try controlling the situation, refrain from giving baseless statements and provocative assertions, because such statement and mistrust is not in the interest of either side.

As the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan values peace and stability in its own country, it wants peace and stability for the entire region and continues its efforts in this regard.

New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: “Ministry of Defense Reacts to the Recent Assertion of the Pakistani Interior Minister”

Ministry of National Defense of the IEA considers recent comments of the Pakistani Interior Minister about the presence of (TTP) in Afghanistan and their possible attack inside Afghanistan as provocative and baseless, said a statement by defense ministry.

The statement adds that such comments damages good relations between the two neighboring and brotherly countries despite the fact regarding existence of evidence indicating that the (TTP) centers are inside Pakistan.

We request that any concerns and problems should be resolved through understanding, the statement said, adding that Afghanistan is not without its owner, as always, we are ready to defend the territorial integrity and independence of our homeland, and it is mentionable we have a better experience than anyone in defending and protecting our country.

New statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: “Concerning the 43rd Anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan”

43 years ago today, on the 6th date of Jeddi, 1358 (Hijri Solar), Soviet Union invaded the sacred territory of Afghanistan and brought thousands of its occupying forces into our territory.

The 10-years long occupation and huge atrocities, thoroughly damaged our country, forced millions of Afghans to emigrate from the country, martyred and crippled; But all praise belongs to almighty Allah only, as our zealous and Muslim nation fought bravely, as a result of which, the Soviet Red Army suffered a great defeat in Afghanistan and our oppressed people were freed from their evil and occupation.

Meanwhile, this great event of history has the message that no arrogant power in the world should doubt the faith, challenge and determination of the Muslim and zealous people of Afghanistan.

It also proves that our people, no matter how oppressed and poor they become, but they have a clear history in implementing the order of their Lord (Jihad) and winning and maintaining the independence and freedom of their country.

The occupation of the British, Soviets and Americans and then their disgraceful defeat make this great truth clear.

The Islamic Emirate, while condemning once again the invasion of the former Soviet Union on our territory, calls on the people to always be ready to protect the freedom and independence of their land and not allow anyone to destroy our country, values and nation. Conspiracies and wrong intentions have been carried out.

The Islamic Emirate is committed to continue its service and efforts round the clock for the defense and protection of its country, religious values and the Muslim nation.

The Islamic State’s Third Bayat Campaign

Previously, I tracked the bayat campaign for Abu Ibrahim after Abu Bakr’s death and then for Abu al-Hasan after Abu Ibrahim’s death. This post will do the same with the announcement of Abu al-Hasan’s death and Abu al-Husayn al-Husayni al-Qurashi as the new leader of the Islamic State. As I said in the original post:

There are two main reasons for this: 1. pledges are leader-specific rather than group-specific and thus need to be renewed with each succession and 2. it is a way to legitimize al-Qurashi’s rule and create a media event so that the group can promote itself as it transitions to a new phase.

The first reason is also something that IS pointed to when it began to overtly feud with al-Qaeda (AQ) in 2013, by saying that following Abu Mus’ab al-Zarqawi’s death, his successor Abu Hamzah al-Muhajir gave baya to the newly created Islamic State of Iraq’s leader Abu ‘Umar al-Baghdadi and even after Abu ‘Umar was killed, when Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi took over in 2010 and then Usamah Bin Laden was killed in 2011, Abu Bakr never publicly gave baya to Ayman al-Zawahiri, even if al-Zawahiri claims he gave it to him privately. Therefore, from the perspective of IS this whole process is not trivial, but important for legitimacy of its leadership and to potentially weed out any insubordination before it manifests into something larger as it already did in the past vis-a-vis AQ.

This post will be updated with the latest official pledges.
